HISTORICAL EXHIBITS AND DISPLAYS
The Madison County Historical Society is proud to present exhibits and displays at the History Center for the entertainment and education of our members, sponsors, and the general public.
Whether you live in the city or "are country", you and your family are a part of the larger county "family" that has lived here since the 1820s. Our ambition and passion is to bring to everyone an understanding and an appreciation of our social heritage and our rich history.
To accomplish this task, a number of exhibits and displays will be available for viewing in the Exhibit Hall at the History Center. The goal is to research, design, and build an exhibit to accurately depict the topic. Some exhibits will be presented for a month or two while others may be available for viewing for several weeks or months. All exhibits will be at the History Center, 7 West 11th Street, Anderson, Indiana. The Exhibit Hall will be open 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Some exhibits will have extended hours which will be announced at the time of the exhibit. All exhibits are free of charge and everyone is invited to come to the History Center to participate.
The MCHS members and the public are encouraged to participate in any of the exhibits that may be of interest to you. You might want to volunteer as a "greeter", "tour leader", researcher or an exhibit designer. We welcome all of you that would like to help with any of our exhibits.
On this page and others, you will find past exhibits and exhibits. Instead of doing away with the exhibit pages, we have decided to keep them and have them for reference by those of you who come to this website. The topics and titles of the exhibits are usually the same from year to year; however, the content of the displays are very different.
You will find family histories, pictures, documents, artifacts, and some items that defies identification. Come early and stay late as there is a lot of years and decades to cover. Our special "Thank You" to the volunteers who plan, spend their time, and work hard to set up these displays and all the research done to share this collection with the community.
The exhibits are free to everyone in the community. It is for you and your family; that's why we do it! If you have a group that would like to come to an exhibit, please contact us so that we can make sure that enough volunteers are here to accommodate your group. For more information and/or questions, please call us at (765) 683-0052 during public hours. Thank you!
